Isabel Nigsch

is a PhD student at the Professorship for Research on Learning and Instruction of Prof. Martina Rau since October 2025. She studied chemistry at ETH Zurich, where she earned her Master of Science in 2024. Following her studies, she began pursuing a teaching diplomain chemistry.

Between December 2024 and September 2025, she worked as a substitute chemistry teacher at two Swiss high schools. She is passionate about sharing knowledge and enjoys inspiring curiosity in science among her students.

Since December 2024, Isabel has been working at the MINT Learning Center, where she contributes to the development of new courses for the ETH Youth Academy. Her work aims to support high school instruction while enriching educational opportunities in STEM subjects.

Her research interests lie in the field of chemical education, with a particular focus on cognitively activating learning methods, the role of visualizations in chemistry education, and how to support both conceptual understanding and individual learning with intelligent tutoring systems.
